On }by 9,1980, Mr. T. D. Geib of Public Service Company of Indiana, Inc.
(PSI) notified your office of a potentially reportable item as required by 10 CFR 50.55(e). This item, which pertains to the operation of centrifugal charging pumps during a high energy line rupture, was described in an interim report to your office dated June 2, 1980.
Westinghouse continues to evaluate a number of possible modifications which will resolve this concern. To date, this evaluation has not been completed.
PSI will advise your office of Westinghouse recommendations or will furnish you wfth a further interim report on or before November 20, 1981.
This letter is intended to fulfill the requirements of an interim repcrt as defined in 10 CFR 50.55(e). If you have any questions on this matter, please feel frec to contact me.
