Final Report of 10CFR50.55(e) Item on Removal of Pipe Supports After Inspection (#39)
Dear Mr. Keppler:
This is subnitted as Detroit Edison's final report on the Renoval of Pipe Supports after DC Inspection and Acceptance problem which was reported per 50.55(e) requirements.
This item was originally reported to Mr. J.E. Xonklin of NRC-Region III by Detroit Edison's Mr. E.A. Walker, Supervisor-Construction Quality Assurance, on February 20, 1981.
It was determined that the problem of removing pipe supports without proper authority applies to all Site Contractors responsible for installation of DA IcVel I Pipe Supports. Constructica management has written a procedure (AP-IV-20) to cover the disassembling and re-assembling of pipe supports.
This procedure will control the renoval and re-installation of pipe supports in the future. At the time of system completmon and turnover walkdowns, the hangers will be re-verified to assure they are installed properly and con-structed to design documents.
