Dear Licensing Board F.eabers:

un July 26, 1981, tne Board issued an Order in the captioned proceeding in which it directed the Applicant and Staff to furnish infonuition concerning the Applicant's discovery of a void in the conteiinicat wall adjacent to the equipnent hatch during preparations for the steam generator repairs. The Board indicated that the discovery of this catter was noted in a July 13, 1981 daily report prepared by the Region 11 Office of Inspection and Enforcecent. The Board expressed a concern over whether this incident was a result of breaching the contointent unich trie Board had understood would not occur in connection with tne steaa generator repairs.

The information requested by the Board is supplied in the attached affidavit of Marshall 6rotenhuis, the HRC Staff project canager for the Turkey Point facility. As explained in this affidavit, the discovery in question did not result fron a breach of the containuent wall, the containnent wall will not be breachec during the steau generator repair, dnd the aaC Region II Office of 1&E was properly apprised of the natter and will ossure that the concrete void is fully ano safely repaired.
