j On behalf of Illinois Power Company, Soyland Power Coopera-c tive, Inc., and Western Illinois Power Cooperative, Incu applica-tion is hereby made for a license to authorize the receipt, possession, and storage of unirradiated fuel assemblies and associated radioactive material for eventual use in Clinton Power Station, Reactor Unit 1.
fhis application is being made pursuant to the requirements of Title 10, Code of rederal Regulations Part 70 plus Parts 30 and 40, as applicable.
It is requested that this licen e begin May 1, 1982 and remain in effect until such time as it may be incorporated into the permanent operating license.
This license is to apply to a) special nuclear material in nuclear fuel and b) by-product l
material in neutron sources:
a)
Nuclear Fuel consists of unirradiated fuel assemblies l
containing uranium enriched in the U-235 isotope.
It is requested that this license authorize the possession of not more than 2,036 kilograms U-235 at a maximum enrichment of 3.0% U-235.
b)
Neutron Sources contain the Sb-124 isotope which emits high energy gamma radiation which, when the Sb is enclosed within a beryllium sleeve, reacts with the beryllium to produce the needed neutrons.
It is requested i
that this license authorize the possession of not more than 30,000 curies of Sb-124.
In addition to one signed original, seven copies of this application are also submitted.
