NRC Docket Nos. 50-361-OL 50-362-OL San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Units 2 & 3 Gentlemen:

We would like to make clear the fact that due to the major use of oil and gas by Southern California Edison to generate electricity we face the real possibility of becoming non-competitive in the making of steel compared to steel mills in neighboring states using federally generated hydro-power or using coal to fire their generators.

Since Southern California Edison has no other major source of electrical power coming on stream other than nuclear, it is vital that we receive power from San Onofre Units #2 and

  1. 3, both to guard against an intolerable escalation of oil cost as a power generation fuel and to insure that an ade-j quate supply of electricity be available.

Sincerely yo s,

/
