Dear l'r. Schneider:
By Generic Letter 81-04, dated February 25, 1981, we requested that, within 90 days, you provide an assessment of the capability of the plant procedures and training program at Salem Unit 1 to mitigate a station blackout event.
In a letter dated June 3,1931 you requested an extension until Septeinber 1, 1981 for subnittal of the requested information.
It was the intent of this Generic letter to the use the 90-day response to obtain comitments to implement the requested assessment and to identify potent 41 pr3blems that would prevent implementation, by approximately September 1,1981, of those actions needed to ensure blackout events can be accomodated. This infomation will provide the f!RC staff with a better understanding of how this matter stands while we continue our generic review.
Inasmuch as the actions required by this Generic Letter should be concluded by September 1,1981 we request that you submit promptly a commitment to review your status and your assessment of any problem areas perceived at this time.
