As discussed with !!r. Hooer C. Schmidt during a phone conversation on July 9,1981, we have issued the Comanche Peak Safety Evaluation Report (SER).
Further, we have deferred scheduling the Comanche Peak review by the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) 'until'such time that sufficient informa-tion has been provided to resolve the large number of oren issues. The SER~
lists as outstanding;29 non-ThI items and 19 THI related items.
In addition, we note that the SER includes a shorter list of confirmatory issues, some of which could be fully resolved within the near future.
We understand that you will be providing additional information on many of these items during July and August in accordance with a letter from Mr. Schmidt dated July 7,1981.
We recommend that your staff meet with us to d'scuss the outstanding issues listed in the SER, any revisions to the letter of July 7,1981, and to ensure that we have a mutual understanding of the tiRC si.aff requirements to resolve these matters.
I urge you to give these matters your personal attention so that they may be j
resolved promptly. Based upon an assessment of the issues and information l
necoe'd to resolve them, as well as the results of the recommended meeting L
between our respective staffs, we will subsequently establish a schedule for the issuance of Supplement tio.1 ~ to the SER and the ACRS meeti.19 i
