LICENSE REVIEW The purpose of the meeting was to conduct a, fire protection rayjew at the Femi 2 plant. NRC staff conducting the review were R. Anand/A. Saeed,an'd J. Beam (Gage-Babcock, consultant)... Detroit Edison representatives included W. Fahrner, W. Colbert, L. Schuerman, R. Anderson.and J. Honkala..
In preparation for the meeting, the plant drawings of routings of cable trays and conduits for safety-related equipment,were marked-up by the applicant.to identify areas that require modifications in order to meet current NRC staff criteria. As a part of the review the staff examined the relationship of safety related components, systems and structures.in specific plant areas to both combustible materials and. to fire detection and suppression systems.
The review included an evaluation of, the automatic and_ manually operated water and gas fire suppression _ systems, the fire, detection pystems, fire barriers, fire doors and dampers, fire protection administration controls, and the fire brigade size and training.,
Results of our review are in'cluded in the, fire protection safety analysis by the Chemical Engineering Branch Appendi,x E to the' Femi 2 Safety _ Evaluatic,n Report (NUREG-0798).
