In order to insure a safe environment due to the liquid releases from the station, the chlorine ef fluents, temperature limitations, and chemical ef fluents will be limited to that de. :ribed in the station's NPDES pennit. Because of the provisions of the Clean Water Act (33 USC 1251, et, seq.) and in the interest of avoiding duplication of effort, the conditions and monitoring requiremeits l related to water quality and aquatic biota are specified in the NEDES Pern c No. IL 0005037 issued by the U.S. EPA and certified by the Illinois EPA t-Quad-Cities Nuclear Generating Station Units 1 and 2. This permit autho' .zes the station to discharge controlled waste water into the waters of the state.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will be relying on the NPDES permit limitations for protection of the equatic environment from nonradiological effluents.
