q.

This is in reference to our letter Serial No. 159 dated March 20, 1981 and our telephone conversation with the NRC staff on July 7,1981 on the subject of Multi-Structure ARS Reanalysis for North Anna Unit 1.

In accordance with sched-ule commitments made in the above referenced letter we have completed preliminary reanalysis, design and installation of all nodifications required in all pipe stress problem groups. We were scheduled to complete final documentation by July 31, 1981. Our documentation review for Phase II is 60% complete; for pipe stress is 90% complete; and for pipe support is 30% complete. The purpose of this letter is to request an extension.for documentation review to August 31, 1981.

North Anna Unit 2 experienced an unplanned two week outage toward the end of June, due to problems with a main transformer and is currently in another un-planned outage, which may extend some four weeks, due to problems with another main transformer. In order to implement Post Three Mile Island Requirements (NUREG-0737), during these outages, we are using the limited resources of pipe stress and pipe support design personnel to design the necessary piping modifi-cations. This has impacted our Multi-Structure ARS documentation effort. As stated in our March 20, 1981 letter, we do not expect our calculation conclusions to be adversely affected during the final documentation process. We remain committed to complete this documentation in as timely a' manner as our personnel resources will allow.
