This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Mr. W. P. Reichhold of this office on June 22, 1981, of activities authorized by NRC Byproduct i
Material License No. 12-14142-01 and to the discussion of our findings with you and members of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
The inspection was an examination of activities conducted under your license as they relate to radiation safety and to compliance with the Commission's rules and regulations and with the conditions of your license. The inspec-tion corsisted of a selective examination of procedures and representative records, observations, independent measurements, and interviews with personnel.
Our inspector expressed concern over an activity which appears to be in conflict with accepted radiological safety practices, as documented in Report 48 of the National Council on Radiation Protection, Section 4.2.F, page 20.
Specifically, the molybdenum - technetium generator and generator storage areas are not locked when unattended.
In your reply, please describe I
what actions you will take to ensure that these areas are locked when unat-tended.
During this inspection, certain of your activities appeared to be in non-compliance with NRC requirements, as specified in enclosed Appendix A.
