ENCLOSURE 1 Arkansas Power and Light Company Arkansas Nuclear One, Units 1 and 2 Occkets 50-313/81-17 50-368/81-15 NOTICE OF VIOLATION Sased on the results of an NRC inspection conducted during the period of April 22 through May 21, 1981, and in accordance with the Interim Enforcement Policy 45 FR 66754 (October 7, 1980), the following violation was identified:
Environmental Technical Specification 4.2.11 covering vegetation sampling states, in part:
"... Food crops and pasturage in the vicinity of the plant also shall be collected as available at harvest time.
Appropriate analysis of all samples shall be performed in accordance with accepted techniques and nuclides of interest as given in Table 4-1."
Contrary to the above, the licensee did not collect or analyze any samples of food crops during 1980.
All vegetation samples collected and analyzed by the licensee were of pasturage.
This constitutes a Severity Level VI Violation (Supplement I.F.) (313/8117-01; 368/8115-01).
Pursuant to the provisions of 10 CFR 2.201, Arkansas Power and Light Company is hereby required to submit to this office within 30 days of the date of this Notice, a written statement or explanation in reply, including (1) the corrective steps which have been taken and results achieved; (2) corrective steps which will be taken to avoid further violations; and (3) the date when full compliance will be achieved.
Under the authority of Section 182 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, this response shall be submitted under oath of affirmation.
Consid-eration may be given to extending your response time for good cause shown.
