Preliminary Saf aty/ Relief Valve (S/RV) Operability Test Results for Vermont Yankee

Dear Sir:

In response to NUREG 0737, Item II.D.1, this letter provides the results of a preliminary review of the generic BWR S/RV test program results (Reference b) in order to confirm the adequacy of the S/RV's used by Vermont Yankee for all test conditions as defined in the test description (Reference c).

Vermont Yankee employs S/RV's manufactureu by Target Rock, Model No. 67-F.

The test results for the three stage Target Rock Valve indicated as74-67F are applicable to the valves used at Vermont Yankee (Reference (d)). A preliminary review of the generic BWR S/RV test program results demonstrates that the tested valve satisfies the acceptance criteria for operability. Therefore, based on this preliminary review, we have no reason to question the operational adequacy of the SRV's in use at Vermont Yankee.
