Dear Mr. Grier:
The following information is provided in response to IE Bulletin 81-03,
" Flow Blockage of Cooling Water to Safety System Components by Cocbicula sp. (Asiatic Clam) and Mytilus sp. (Mussel)".
IE Bulletin actions to be taken (CP):
1.
Item 1. Corbicula sp and Mytilus sp. are not present in the vicinity of the station.
If present, these mollusks would have been detected by Susquehanna's Aquatic Monitoring Program initiated in 1971.
Items 2 & 3. Not applicable to Susquehanna SES.
Item 4.
Mytilus sp. is a salt water mussel and will not propagate to the vicinity of Susquehanna SES.
Corbicula sp. has not been detected above the Conowingo Dam in Maryland approximately 130 miles downstream from Susquehanna SES.
PPSL plans to monitor for penetration and propagation of Corbicula sp. upstream from the dam.

Potential for intrusion of these mollusks into plant systems will be evaluated if they are detected in the vicinity of Susquehanna SES.
o) Not applicable to Susquehanna SES.

If present, these organisms would have been detected in benthic portions of the aquatic surveys for the Susquehanna River.
Annue.1 Reports submitted to NRC from 1971 through 1980 confirm that these organisms are not present in the vicinity of the station.
