Dear Sir:

Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 2 (TMI-2)

Operating License No. DPR-73 Docket No. 50-320 Submerged Demineralizer System ERRATA Please make the following changes in our submittal to you on April 24, 1981 (LL2-81-0105).

Change paragraph 2 to read:

"The primary concern addressed here is the potential for ga'seous or particulate airborne radioactivity release through inadvertant release of contaminated water to the fuel handling building atmosphere. The possibility exists that some of the waterborne radionuclides may become airborne. These airborne particulates and gases may be entrained in the plant ventilation system and be processed out the plant vent, stack. HP-R-219A monitors radionuclide effluent from the plant vent stack. SDS processing will be terminated upon receipt of a high radiation signal (in excess of the instrument alarm setpoint) or if HP-R-219A is inoperable."

Change paragraph 3 to read:

"During tank farm fill operations, the following conditions have been determined to be important:

1.

HP-R-219A operable.

2.

WG-T-2A, 2B, 2C, 2D tank level indicators operable.

3.

Offgas system ventilation blower in operatien.

4.

Filter manifold enclosure vacuum greater than 0.25" WG below r.nbient pressure.

5.

High R;.d filter sample glove box vacuum greater than 0.25" WG below ambient pressure."

"During SDS operations, the following conditions have been determined to be important:

1.

HP-R-210A operable.

2.

Feed pump manifold enclosure vacuum greater than 0.25" WG below ambient pressure.

3.

Filter manifold enclosure vacuum greater than 0.25" WG below ambient pressure.

4.

Beta maniold enclosure vacuum greater than 0.25" WG below ambient pressure.

5.

Ion exchange manifold enclosure vacuum greater than 0.25" WG below ambient pressure.

6.

Reactor coolant system manifold vacuum greater than 0.25" WG below ambient pressure when in use.

7.

Valve IX-24 operable in automatic.

8.

Offgas system ventilation blower in operation.

9.

Offgas bottems pump operable in either automatic or manual mode."

Change paragraph 5 to read:

During SDS process sampling operations, the following conditions have been determined to be important:

1.

HP-R-219A operable.

2.

Sample box in use vacuum greater than 0.25" WG below ambient pressure.

During the course of the SDS op4 rations, should the above specified conditions not be met, we will discontinue the affected operation.

That operation will not be resumed without concurrence of the TMI Program Office.

Should you wish to discuss this matter further, please contact Mr. L. J.
