N W/;SHINGTON DC 20555 DOCKET 50-312 RANCHO SECO NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION UNIT N0 1 On Ma-ch 12, 1981, the Babcock & Wilcox Company submitted B&W's Generic Report BAW-1511 P, "A Radiation-Induced Reduction and Charpy Upper-Shelf Energy of Reactor Vessel Welds", to the NRC by, letter from
, James H. Taylor to A nn S. Berggren. This report was submitted by B&W on behalf of the Reactor Vessel Materials Subcommittee of the B&W Owners' Group. The Sacramento Municipal Utility District is a member of this subcommittee.
We have leviewed this report and find the data presented therein appli-cable to Rancho Seco, Unit No. 1.
This report shows that the Rancho Seco, Unit No.1 Reactor Vessel welds are predicted to exhibit a Charpy Upper-Shelf Energy c.' more than 50 f t-lb for more than 16 years. Completion of work in other phases of the B&W Owners' Group Program will provide justi-fication for plant operation for the 40-year design life of the vessel.
