FR0ft:

Harold R. Denton, Director ASchwencer Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation SL'1 JECT:

SITING CRITERIA RULEMAKING At a recent meeting with representatives ? ACORN, Philadelphia, they expressed a strong desire and interest in being given the ooportunity to participate in the develotwent of the siting criteria for nuclear plants.

It is my understanding that the exact course of the rulemaking process for siting criteria has not been fully established.

However, as the rulemaking proceeds, I reconnend that consideration be given to scheduling meetings with the public to obtain their input. As indicated in the meeting sumary, attached, ACORN specifically asked that such a meeting or meetings be held in Philadelphia.

I recommend that such meetings be scheduled if, and when, appropriate as the rule-making proceeds.

If you have any ouestions please contact D. Sells, the Limerick Project Manager, at extension 27792.
