I September 12, 1980 Mr. Bernard J. Snyder, Program Director Three Mile Island Program Office Office of Nuclear-Reactor Program U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Com:ission Washington, D.C.
20555 i
Dear Sir:
Your Environmental Impact Statement on Three Mile Island does not guarantee to the TMI area that no risk is involved in the clean-up of TMI 2, nor does.it solve the problem of disposal of radioactive waste, which is extrezely important.
I, as many others, oppose:
I
- 1. The release of radioactive waste into the j
Susquehanna River or stored on site.
2.
The release of gas into the at=osphere.
1 I
- 3. The storage of radioactive waste within this or any nearby areas.
)
i Since T5I 2-is a laboratory for the nuclear industry in the nation, I think it is only proper that the Federal Government stop shirking responsibility.
I The Federal Governnent permits construction, licenses i
i ahd regulates these plants, therefore they are a " PARTNER 8'.
It is obvious that they percitted this industry to be i-created without knowledge of the impact of an accident such as TMI 2.
i We feel that we are being used in experimentation for the-
~
nuc1 ear industry-and demand that these plants - TMI 1 and TMI 2, also Peach Bottos-Nuclear Power Plant be closed down permanently,. cleaned up completely and waste disposed' of. safely.
