This letter refers to the routine resident safety inspection conducted by
Massrs. H. Eichenholz.and J .Macdonald of this office on December 12, 1989 -
January 22, 1990 at the Vermont-Yankee Nuclear Power Station, Vernon, Vermont.
The inspection consisted of observation of activities, interviews with per-
,
sonnel and document reviews. The results of the inspection are described in
the NRC Region I Inspection Report enclosed with this letter and were discussed-
with Mr. J. Pelletier ~of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
We.have received your December 28, 1989 reply'to our letter dated November 7,
1989,. requesting a written assessment detailing your evaluation and additional
corrective actions pertaining to recent instances of degraded or defeated high
~
radiation area doors. The long-term effectiveness of these actions will be-
evaluated during routine inspections.
