' Gentlemen:
This: refers to the. routine safety inspection conducted by R. Lanksbury,
R. Kopriva, P. Lougheed and D. Jones of this office on December 8 through
January 16, 1990, of activities at LaSalle County Station, Units 1 and 2,
discussion of our-findings with Mr. G. Diederich and members of his staff
at the conclusion of the inspection.
The enclosed copy of our: inspection report identified areas examined during
the inspection.. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a' selective
-examination of' procedures'and representative records, observations,.and-
. interviews with personnel.
During .this: inspection, certain of your activities appeared to be in violation
of NRC requirements, as described in the enclosed inspection report.
However,
because the NRC wants to encourage and support licensee's initiatives for
self-identification and correction of problems, the NRC'will not generally
issue a Notice of Violation for a violation that meets the' requirements of
10 CFR 2,' Appendix-C,Section V.A.
This is the case with the violation
discussed'.in Paragraph 4;b. -of. the enclosed inspection report.
If you do not
