Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, 50-318 Units 1 and 2 License Nos. DPR-53 DPR-69 l

r As a result of the inspection conducted on January 8-12, 1990, and in accordance with the " General Statement of Policy and Procedure for NRC Enforcement Actions," 10 CFR Part 2. Appendix C (Enforcement Policy) (1990),

i the following violation was identified:

t The Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant Guard Training and Qualification Plan, dated March 13, 1989, Revision 4, Section 2.2.1, states, in part, that all armed members of the nuclear security force are required to pass a physical examination that includes a vision check for both field of vision and glaucoma.

Contrary to the above, on January 11, 1990, the inspectors found security force members' (SFN's) vision was not being tested for either field of vision or glaucoma.

This is a Severity Level IV Violation (SupplementIII).

Pursuant to the provisions of 10 CFR 2.201, Baltimore Gas and Electric Company is hereby required to submit to this office within thirty days of the date of the letter which transmitted this Notice, a written' statement or explanation in reply, including: (1) the corrective steps which have been taken and the results achieved; (2) corrective steps which will be taken to avoid further violations; and (3) the date when full compliance will be achieved.

Where good cause is shown, consideration will be given to extending this response time.

All Safeguards Information (SGI), as defined in 10 CFR 73.21, contained in your submittal should be included in an enclosure so that the transmittal letter, withcut the SGI, can be placed in the NRC's Pubite Document Room in accordance with 10 CFR 2.790(a).
