This letter transmits the routine resident safety inspection by Messrs.
T. Kenny, L. Scholl, and Ms. M. Evans from October 11 - November 20, 1989 at~
the Limerick' Generating Station, Limerick,' Pennsylvania. The inspection
consisted of document reviews, interviews, and observations of activities.
The results have been discussed with Mr. Martin McCormick, Jr. of your staff.

No violations were identified by the NRC during this inspection. We noted that.

the Unit 2 startup testing program continued to be well managed.
In addition,
plant operator performance during startup testing and an unexpected Unit 2 plant
l
, trip was excellent and very professional.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790(a), a copy of this letter and the onclosures
will be placed in the Public Document Room.
