Dy letters dated Novenber 7,1983, Februar 29,1984, June 3,1985, and September 8,1988, Georgia Power Company (yGPC)respondedtoGenericLetter (GL) 83-28, item 2.2, Part 1. Equipment Classification Program for all safety-related components other than RTS components for the Edwin 1. Hatch Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2.

The NRC staff and its contractor have reviewed these submittals and find the GPC response to Item 2.2, Part 1 of GL 83-28 to be acceptable. Enclosure 1providesthestaff'sSafetyEvaluationandEnclosure2 provides the contractor's Technical Evaluation Report.

This completes the hRC staff review of all GL 83-28 issues for Hatch Units 1 and 2, except for Item 2.2 Part 2, relating to the program to ensure that vendor information for safety-related components is complete, current, and controlled, and is appropriately referenced in plant procedures. Review regarding Item 2.2, Part 2, is continuing.
