MCollins, DMB This letter is to confirm telephone calls between my staff (Ms. Reba M. Diggs) and your staff (Ms. Jane Richofsky) during the period of July 29, 1981 and August 17, 1981, at which time its. Diggs informed Ms. Richofsky that we had not received a certain check for $4,000. This check relates to an application dated flovember 17, 1980, that was filed with the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation for review, in which your company stated that a check for $4,000 was enclosed in accordance with 10 CFR 170.22. This application was submitted as Revision 1 to your Proposed Amendment No. 68 for certain fire protection Technical Specification changes for Rt.ncho Seco Unit No. 1.
On July 30, Ms. Richofsky informed us that the check had not cleared your Accounts office as of June 30th.
It is our understanding that the Check Number is 231536.
We again suggest that your company take whatever action you deem r.ecessary (e.g.,
stop payment) in connection with this check which cannot be located. We re3 ret the untimeliness of our notification to you of this missing check.. We feel that our current procedures will prevent this i om happening in the future.
We have been exempting from fees those fire protection applications that were filed prior to the 10 CFR 50.48/ Appendix R requirements. On this basis, we have determined that an exemption pursuant to 10 CFR 170.ll(b) from tte fee require-ments of 10 CFR 170.22 is authorized by law, and such exemption is otherwise in i
the public interest cnd is hereby granted for your November 17, 1980 application.
Therefore, it is not necessary for you to remit a replacement check for the November application.
