SUMMARY

OF MEETING HELD ON AUGUST 13, 1981, TO DISCUSS THE INTEGRATED ASSESSMENT PROGRAM FOR THE OYSTER CREEK NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION On August 13, 1981, the NRC staff met in Bethesda, Maryland, with representatives of JCP&L and their consultants. A list of attendees is provided as Enclosure 1.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss (1) the conduct of the integrated assessment program including the type of licensee support required, (2) review the status of the SEP Topic submittals arm (3) discuss milestones and schedules.

The licensee was advised that the submittals provided to date which were identified as deficient would not"be returned; however, the licensee will be responsible for determining specific requirements and provide supplemental information as required.

It was pointed out that in areas where the staff has indicated that analysis is needed the licensee must perform the analysis or justify their position for not doing so. A great deal of the meeting was spent in discussion of the various topics. The reviewers provided information and clarification on a number of the existing problem areas to the licensee.

The matter of'the outstanding topic submittals which are due, but not yet received, were discussed. JCP&L advised us that the. schedule for delivery to the NRC will be.available the week.of August 17. JCP&L also advised us that'the9 will provide a representative to be located in Bethesda on a part time basis beginning in mid-September for approximately 6 weeks. The purpose of thiseffort is to provide technical input to the reviewers as required and expedite the reviee process by acting as iiason between the NRC and the utility.

A plant visit by the NRC integrated assessment team is tentatively scheduled for October 1981, but the date will be dependent on the progress of the overall

program, d
