This letter confirms verbal nc,tification on June 1, 1981 of a condition discovered in construction which is con-sidered potentially reportable in accordance with 10CFR50.55-(e).
It involves the use of brass or non-hardened steel washers by the supplier, ITT-Grinnell, in the assembly of cer-tain mechanical shock suporessors in lieu of hardened steel washers as required by ASME BPC Code,Section III, Subsection NF, paragraph NF-4724, 1974 and 1977 Editions.
We are performing an evaluation of this potential defici:ncy and will keep you advised of our determinations.
