This is in response to your letter of January 22, 1981, concerning the Quad-Cities transportation noncompliance discussed in our February 22, 1980 letter and subsequent correspondence.
Your request for rescission of the noncompliance was forwarded to our Headquarters for review. As you may know, our Headquarters has been reassessing the information presented in certain parts of NRC Information Notice No. 80-32, issued on August 29, 1980. As Mr. R. K. Hoefling's letter to J. S. Abel dated January 16, 1981, indicated, a supplement to that Notice is being prepared.
Based on our Headquarters reassessment, we are hereby retracting the non-compliance regarding package labeling (49 CFR 173.392(c)(8)) of a Quad-Cities Unit I radwaste shipment, which was included in A. B. Davis' February 22, 1980 letter to you.
We will gladly discuss any questions you have concerning this matter.
