thirty-day report of Reportable Occurrence 31-31 l

On May 20, perforrrance of a routine surveillance procedure revealed a number of Cable Tray Fire Barrier failures.

Two subsequent inspections under the same surveillance procedure, on June 1 and June 9, revealed additional fire barrier failures.

A fi rewatch was es tablished at each af fected fi re barrier, and work reques ts were wri tten to repai r each.

To prevent fire barrier f ailures f rom going undetected during on-going plant modifications, the Supervising Civil Engineer is establishing a log to keep track of all fire barriers as they are compromised.

This will provide for immediate noti ficat ion of the Cont rol Room and of the Safety Technician, so that firewatches can be established.

There were no transients or power reductions associated with this event.
