Letter dated February 26, 1981 from D. G. Eisenhut to Holders of Construction Permits and Applicants for Operating Licenses (.WR's) Regarding the Implementation of NUREG-0313 Rev.1

Dear Mr. Eisenhut:

We have reviewed Rev. 1 to NUREG-0313 " Technical Report on Material Selection and Processing Guidelines for BWR Coolcat Pressure Boundary Piping (Generic Task A h2)" and conclude that a request for an ex';ension of the July 1,1981 response date is needed.

As we indicated in our response to NUREG-0313 Rev. 0 (V. S. Boyer to R. L. Baer dated l'. arch 26,1979), extensive modifications to safe ends and ASME Class I piping have been made at Limerick for the purpose of mitigating intergranular stress corrosion cracking. These c:hanges do not meet the complete criteria of NUREG-0313, Rev.1, particularly in the area of Class II and III piping. Due to the advanced construction status of Lime ~ick it is likely that certain hardship requests will be '

made. Additional time is required to evaluate the feasibility of each individual case. For this reason we hereby request to extend the response date to November 2, 1981.

Sincerely,

$f IS"',
