Use of ASME Code Case N-292 on the Byron and Braidwood Stations In a letter, dated May 20, 1981, we authorized you to apply ASME Code Case N-292, " Depositing Weld Metal Prior to Preparing Ends for Welding Section III, Division 1, Class 1, 2, and 3 Construction", on the Byron and Braidwood Stations. However, as you were advised verbally at the May 11-13, 1981 meeting, our approval of Code Case N-292 is also subject to the following condition in addition to those specified in the Code Case:
For Class 3 piping which is longitudinally welded and for which a weld joint efficiency factor of 1.0 has been selected from Table ND-3613.4-1 for use in design, Paragraph 4.0 of the Code Case reply shall be modified to require a 100% volumetric examination (RT or UT) of the deposited weld metal in accordance with the requirements of ND-5000.
This letter amends the May 20, 1981 letter with regards to Code Case N-292 to include the above mentioned condition.
