Dear ??r. Abel:
On !!ovember 24, 1930, we issued a letter on the new Appendix R to 10 CFR 50 regarding fire protection features of nucicar power plants.
In that letter' on the Zion Station, Units 1 and 2, Enclosure 2 addressed the summary of staff requircaents to resolve npen items. This sucraary also included a supplemental safety evaluation of a number of previously open items in Administrative Controls, Section G.
t!e consider this summary both a Supple-mental Safety Evaluation Report for several itens-in the administrative controls and a summary of open items which were to be resolved by meeting Appendix R requirements. This Supplemental Safety Evaluation Report in odr November 24, 1980 letter predates the Appendix R effective date and those-items found acceptable by that report reaafn acceptable pursuant to 10 CFR 50.48(b) and would not be required to meet Appendix R.
