Virginia Electric an! Power Company North Anna Power Station, Unit 1 Attachment: Page 1 of 1 Docket No. 50-338 Report No. LER 81-040/0?,L-0

Description of Event

The 18 month periodic test (1-PT-50) was performed on March 1,1981 during a refueling shutdown. During this test SV-1551A lifted at 2290 psig and SV-1551B lifted at 2450 psig. The acceptance criteria specified in T.S. 3.4.2 and in 1-PT-50 i_s_2485 psit 1%. The reportability of this event was not determined until May 20, 1981 when the SNSOC was reviewing the deviation report subsequent to the management review.

Howevar, the event was subsequently determined to be reportable pursuant to T.S. 4.0.5.

Probable Consequences of Occurrence The purpose of the pressurizer code safety valves is to prevent' '

reactor coolant system pressure from exceeding 110% of system design pressure. Because the valves were set to relieve at a pressure-lower ~

than desired (which is cctually more conservative), the health 3gd_aafety of the public were not affected.

Cause of Event

The setpoints of the safety valves 4 -if ted low.

Immediate Corrective Action

The relief setpoints for safety valves SV-1551 A and B were readjusted and verified acceptable by retest.

Scheduled Corrective Action No further actions are required.

Actions Taken to Prevent Recurrence No further actions are required.

Generie Implications This event is generic to North Anna Units 1 and 2.
