STATION BLACKOUT EVENTS"
Dear Mr. Eisenhut:
In response to your letter of February 25, 1981 (Generic Letter 81-04), Carolina Power & Light Company (CP&L) provides the follow-ing information on our existing procedures and training for station blackout events.
Our present emergency procedures and training, including simulator training, address the loss of all offsite AC power but they do assume that at least one diesel generator is available for each unit.
This is in accordance with the design basis for the plant, as approved by the NRC. We are evaluating the concerns outlined in your letter and will incorporate the results of our evaluation in our plant procedures and training program. At this time we still hope to be able to complete this effort on a schedule consistent with the six-month period stated in your letter, but we may be unable to do so due to the unavaitability of the necessary technical data. If we find that your six-month schedule cannot be met, we will propose a new schedule and provide any necessary justifications.
