Reference:

Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit No. 1 Docket No. 50-334, License No. DPR-66 IE Inspection Report No. 80-29 Gentlemen:

In response to your letter of January 22, 1981, and in accordance with 10 CFR 2.201, the attached reply addresses the Notice of Violation which was included as Appendix A of the referenced Inspection Report.

The noted vio-lations consisted of three (3) items of noncompliance identified in two of the twenty areas inspected.

In addition to the need for corrective action regarding these specific items of noncompliance, your letter expressed concern about the implamentation of our management control systems that permitted them to occur. We have made security supervision aware of the consequences of these types of violations and that they must provide additional attention to these areas to bring the performance of the guard force to an acceptable level.

Since this response contains information subject to Section 2.790(d),

Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations and is, therefore, exempt from dis-closure, it is my understanding that this response will not be placed in the Public Document Room and will receive limited distribution.

If you have any questions concerning this response, please contact my office.

Very truly yours, C. N. Dunn Vice President, Operations
