Dear Mt...Engl eken:

f

Subject:

PROJECT NOS. 3 AND 5 IE BULLETIN NO. 79-02, REVISION NO. 2

" PIPE SUPPORT BASE PLATE DESIGNS USING CONCRETE EXPANSION ANCHOR BOLTS" References :

1) Letter, D. L. Renberger to R. H. Engleken, same subject, dated July 10, 1979, G03-79-1278.

2)

Letter, D. L. Renberger to R. H. Engleken, same subject, dated December 13,1979, G03-79-2340.

This letter supplements reference letters 1 and 2 and provides the Supply System's current status on the usage of concrete expansion anchors on the WNP-3/5 projects. Whereas it has been the Supply System's intention not to use concrete expansion anchors in the original design of WPPSS Quality Class I attachments, expansion anchors have been designed for use in Class I attachments of HVAC duct, cable tray and pipe supports to the concrete struc-tures.

These attachments are now being inventoried to document the extent to which expansion anchors have.been specified in these designs and that the designs comply with the criteria contained in IE Bulletin 79-02 as committed in reference letter 1.

Upon completion of our current assessment of the usage of expansion anchors, the NRC will be advised of the results.

It is anticipated that this survey will be completed by July 15, 1981.

Ver trjuly yours, c
