Dear Mr. Clayton:
u yy g T. Murphy By letter dated April 25, 1980, you requested certain clarification and/or authorization relating to the record keeping requirements of 10 CFR 20 at Farley Nuclear Plant. You stated a concern that Section 102(c)(2) of 10 CFR 20 required a very significant administrative burden to Alabama Power Company. This specific section of the code requires you to retain radiation exposure records used in preparing form NRC-4 for enployees whose criginal exposure records would be maintained by previous employers.
We have reviewed your request which has merit. Current regulations require you to obtain the Coneission's authorization for record disposition. The records which you desire to dispose of are those relating to Farley personnel that had worked for others and are utilized in preparing their NPC-4 forms (f.e.,10 CFR 20.102(c)(2)). We consider that the period of time for retention of these records be not less than one year after which time you may dispose of them. This letter grants record disposition as you requested.
