Technical operations' Model 491 These exposure devices are used only within the confines of Fick Foundry Company and would not be used to transport a source unless it was to be shipped to the manufacturer for repair or disposal.

~?,,W.,,, g This establishes that the packaging design described herein, when loaded with the authori:ed radioactive contents, has been certified by the National Ccapetent Authority of the United States as meeting the regulatory requirements for Type 3 packaging for

radioactive materials as =rescribed in IAEA 1 Reculations and 49 CFR 55 173.393a and II3. 394 (b) (3) of the USA 2 Regulations for the transport of radioactive materials.

I.

Package Identification - Autc=ation Industries Model 500-SU.

II.

Packaging Cescri: tion - The packaging authorized by this certificate consists of a depleted uranium shield contained within a welded 10-gauge, stainless steel box about 5" x 6" x 11" with a positive closure.

The centenes are positioned within titanium tubes with threaded cap closures.

The gross weight of the package is app cximately 60 pounds.

III.

Authorized Radicactive Contents - The authorized contents consist of a Type S quantity of radioactive material as not more than 300 Curies of encapsulated Iridium-192 which must meet the requirements of special fo m as set forth in.49 CFR 173.398 (a).

IV.

General Conditions -

a.

Each user of this certificate must have in his possession a copy of this certificate.

b.

Each user of this certificate, other than Automation Industries, Inc., Phoenixville, PA, shall register his identity in writing to the Office of Hazardcus }!aterials Regulation, U.S. Department of-Transportation,*dashington, D.C.
