ATTENTION: Ms. E.G. Adensam, Chief Licensing Branch No. 4

Dear Ms. Adensam:

Subject:

SUPPLY SYSTEM NUCLEAR PROJECTS NOS. 1 AND 4 SUBMITTAL OF FSAR SECTION 2.5 The Supply System plans to submit the WNP-1/4 FSAR for acceptance review in December 1981.

Because WNP-2 and WNP-1/4 are both located on the Hanford Site and because the WNP-2 application is currently undergoing active review, we propose that subsections 2.5.1 through 2.5.3 (Basic Geologic and Seismic Information, Vibratory Ground Motion and Surface Faulting) of the WNP-1/4 FSAR be omitted and in their place we provide reference to these subsections of the WNP-2 FSAR. This would be of advantage to the Staff in that there would be only one geology / seismology document to review and there would be no questions of differences that could exist between two submittals.

This concept of referencing the WNP-2 FSAR and the plan and schedule for future amendments to the geology / seismology section of the WNP-2 FSAR were discussed with the Staff during a March 31 meeting on the WNP-2 review.

In order for us to omit Subsections 2.5.1 through 2.5.3 from the WNP-1/4 FSAP., we will need agreement from the NRC that such an omission will not b e. used by the Staff as a basis for failure of the WNP-1/4 FSAR to pass the acceptance review.
