/8 South Texas Project Units 1&2 Docket Nos. STN 50-498, STN 50-499 Fourth Interim Report Concerning the Stop Work Order on Safety-Related Welding On April 11, 1980, pursuant to 10CFR50.55(e), Houston Lighting &
Power Company notified your office of a stop work order issued on safety-related welding at the South Texas Project site.
The current status of safety-related welding is:
(1) AWS: The normal production AWS velding program is pro-gressing in accordance with our December 30, 1980 letter as authorized by your letter of January 5, 1981. Normal production AWS welding and related activities were re-sumer! at the site on January 5, 1981.
(2) ASME: On March 25, 1981, Houston Lighting & Power re-quested an extension of the limited work authorization for ASME safety-related welding. This request identi-fied ASME production welding which could be conducted during a twelve (12) week period starting on March 30, 1981. The work request also identified the buildings and systems for which work was scheduled.
On March 31, 1981, authorization was received by yourself to proceed with the twen. (12) week ASME welding program based upon the continuing implementation of controls g O[7 identified in your November 21, 1980 letter.
