Further to my March 11, 1981 letter, Georgia Power Company wishes to submit the following additional clarifications concerning the violations discussed in your inspection report 50-424/81-02 and 50-425/81-02.

A.1 The reason the welding procedure did not specify the welding parameters was because the manufacturer's recomeaded approxi-mate welding parameters were printed on the stud arc welding machine. These were used in lieu of a welding procedure speci-fication.

A.3 The reason for not having qualification data available at the time of the inspection was due to misplacing the data that once was available.

B.1, 2,3,4 The reason for the Level VI violation listed in Section B, sub items 1 thru 4, of Appendix A of your report was: Georgia Power and our contractors were of the opinion that our program was in compliance with code requirements. We are taking steps to strengthen our program as indicated in our March 11, 1981 letter.

B.4 To reinforce our welder qualification program Chicago Bridge and Iron performs 100% radiography of the first 10 feet of each welders work. Therefore, we are assured of the welder's quali-fication even if coupons identified were questionable.
