l PEACH BOTTOM ATOMIC POWER STATION NARRATIVE

SUMMARY

OF OPERATING EXPnTmCES MARCH , 1981 UNIT 2 l

On March 1, load was reduced by 1h0 MWe for control rod pattern i adjustment. On March 20, a main turbine moisture separator 1 drain tank high level condition tripped the main turbine resulting in a reactor scram. Following the completion of some non-safety-related maintenance, the unit was returned to service on March 21. On March 27, a load reduction to h00 MWe was taken to provide for control rod pattern adjustment and maintenance of a main turbine moisture separator drain tank level controller. The unit operated at full power from March 28, through the end of the month.

UNIT 1 On March 1, power was reduced to 800 MWe for control rod pattern adjustment to enable return to full power. The unit was removed from service on March 6, to begin a scheduled refueling, main-tenance and major modification outage. During this shutdown, the reactor scrammed on high neutron flux in the IRM range as a result of a rapid rise in reactor water level which occurred while swapping the reactor feedpump control from automatic to manual. Fuel movement from the reactor to the fuel storage pool was begun on March 16, and completed on March 28.
