Dear Mr. Hoffman:

The Conmission has requested that we provide a summary report in one year on.the results of operation and testing of containment isolation valves at the Big Rock Point Plant (Enclosure 1). We request, therefore, that you provide us by February 15, 1982, with a report of the operational history during this period for any instances where a containment isolation occurs as well as the results of your Appendix J tests over the period January 1, 1981 to February 1, 1982. The data should include a tabulation of the number of valves that pass the leakage test and the number that fail the test. For any containment isolation valves that do not meet the leakage criterion or do not close properly on a containment isolation signal, please identify the valve number and system as well as the cause for the malfunction.

Sincerely,

  1. 1 Dennis M. Crutchfield, Ch' f Operating teactors Branch #5 Division of Licensing cc: See next page
