MAR 171981 Docket No. 50-364 LICENSEE: Alabama Power Company FACILITY: Farley 2

SUBJECT:

Su MARY OF FEBRUARY 4, 1981 MEETING REGARDING FARLEY 2 STARTUP SCHEDULE Representatives of Alabama Power Company (R. P. Mcdonald, O. Kingsley and G. Hairston) met with the staff in the Division of Licensing (D. G. Eisenhut, R. L. Tedesco, A. Schwencer and L. L. Kintner) to provide reasons for the delay in plant startup and to provide an updated plant startup schedule.

On September 3,1980, when the Commission met to consider a fuel loading and low power testing license, the estimated fuel loading date was late September 1980.

In January 1981, the estimated fuel loading date was March 8, 1981. The major reason for the more than 5 month delay was that the modifica-tions to pipe hangers were more extensive than anticipated. Lesser reasons were that the simultaneous refueling shutdown of Unit 1 and modifications to masonry walls placed an added burden on engineering, construction supervisory and management personnel, requiring these persons to divide their time between the two units. Licensee's summary of the meeting is provided in their February 6, 1981 letter to Mr. D. G. Eisenhut.
