SUBJECT:
GRAND GULF NUCLEAR STATION UNITS 1 AND 2 RESOLUTION OF OPEN ITEMS IN METEOROLOGY ORAFT SAFETY EVALUATION Our review of your application for the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station has progressed to the point that we now have a draft Safety Evaluation Report (SER) in the meteorology area. We propose to complete the review in this area using the draft SER procedure, similar to that used in the mechanical engineering review.
We request that your staff review the enclosed draft SER input, and provide the additional information necessary for the completion of Section 2.3.3. The open item pertains to the Grand Gulf program for measurement and utilization of meteorological parameters for emergency planning, as required in NUREG-0654, Appendix 2.
When your staff has had sufficient time to review the draft SER input and has prepared a response on the implementation of NUREG-0654, Appendix 2, please inform the Project Manager, Joseph A. Martore so that we can discuss the need for a meeting or conference call.
