Subject: NRC Inspection of WSU Research Reactor
This refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. J. R. Curtis of this office
on October 22-24, 1980 of activities authorized by NRC License No. F.-76
and to the discussion of our findings held by Mr. Curtis with
Mssrs. Wilson, Neidiger and Reactor Safeguards Committee members at
the conclusion of the inspection.

Areas examined during this inspection are described in the enclosed
inspection report. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of
selective exaninations of procedures and representative records, interviews
with personnel, and observatier.s by the inspec. tor.
Based on the results of this inspection, it appears that one of your

activitiec was not conducted in full compliance with NRC requirements,
as set forth is the Notice of Violation, enclosed herewith as Appendix A.
This item of nnncompliance has been categorized into:a severity level
as described in the Federal Register Notice (45 FR 66754) dated
. 0ctober. 7, 1980. A copy of this Notice (45 FR 66754) is also enclosed.
