Dear Sir:

s Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 1 (TMI-1) C> 4

/f Operating License No. DPR-50

~

Docket No. 50-289 IE Bulletin 80-18 Our previous response (October 16, 1980, TLL 481) to the subject bulletin concerning " Maintenance of Adequate Minimum, Flow Through Centrifical Charging Pumps Following Secondary Side High Energy Line Rupture" indicated an assumed DP of 50 psi across the core.

A letter from Babcock & Wilcox on this subject stated the assumed DP was incorrect for flows of 109%

to 110% of design Reactor Coolant System flow. The revised DP should be 94.4 psi. Therefore, paragraph e of our previous letter should be revised to indicate a 300' " cushion" vice the 400' " cushion".

This change does not affect the conclusions determined previously.

Sincerely, a

.t H. D.
