Dear Sirs:
The Charlevoix County Board of Commissioners has been asked to pass a resolution regarding the Big Rock Nucicar Plant located in Charlevoix Consumers Power has closed the plant in the past due to some County.
problems, and there has been some public concern.
Before I vote on the resolution, I would greatly appreciate your answering some questions concerning the operation of the Big Rock plant.
Some items of concern are:
- 1) 'What are the Nucicar Regulatory Commission's minimum standards for nuclear plants?
- 2) With which of the above standards is Big Rock in compliance?
- 3) With which of the above standards is Lig Rock not in compliance?
- 4) What is the inspection procedure of NRC in detern.ining compliance or non-compliance?
- 5) What is the breakdown of the payment of the liability insurance to cover a major nuclear accident? In other words, does Consumers carry enough (how much) to supplant the Price-Anderson Act, or are the taxpayers paying for a portion of the insurance?
Please be informed that I need these questions answered as quickly as possible and within 10 days at the maximum. The County Board has tabled this resolution, and we need the information before the next meeting.
