Dear Senator Williams:
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission recently received your request for its views on a December 1,1980 letter from H. Dieckamp, President, General Public Utilities Corpora-tion (GPU) to the Commission.
In that letter, GPU urged the Commission to authorize the restart of Three Mile Island, Unit One, prior to the completion of ongoing adjudicatory hearing:: on that matter.
After receiving the-letter, the Cc= mission issued an order inviting the other parties to the TMI Restart proceeding to submit by January 6, 1980 cocments on the issues GPU raises.
Thereafter, the Coc: mission intends to respond to Mr. Dieckamp.
I will be pleased to provide you with a l
copy of the'Coc=ission's response as soon as it is issued.
Sincerely, Carlton.
