Interim 10CFR50.55(e) Report - Nonconforming Welds in Main Control Panels Cear Mr Seidle:
On October 14, 1980, we reported to Mr Hubacek at your Region IV office that we were considering the nonconforming welds found in our main control panels to be a potential 10CFR50.55(e) item.
These panels were furnished by Comsip Customline in Linden, NJ, under our specification 10466-J200.
We initially planned to have the design organization which performed the sesmic analysis re-analyze the panels to determine if the as welded condi-tion of the panels could withstand all design basis loads.
However, the French company (Seteme) which performed the sesmic design is on strike and it is unknown when they will return to work. There fore, to avoid delay, a shaker table tent will be conducted on a panel being fabricated in such a manner that its welds will envelope the welds in the Wolf Creek panels.
Subject to the availability of test facilities and test results, we expect to submit a Final Report by March 2, 1981.
