Docket No. 50-461 Based:on the results of the.NRC_ inspection conducted on October 6-8,'1980,

it appears that certain.of your' activities were not conducted 'in full compliance with'NRC requirements, a's-noted below. This-is an infraction.
-10 CFR-50, Appendix-B, Criterion IX,. requires that special processes, including nondestructive examinations, be controlled and accomplished in-
- accordance with' applicable codes, standards, and other special requirements.
- General Ele:tric Specification 21A3561, Revision 3, Reference Section,
- states, that " Ultrasonic inspection of the control rod drive-housings to the vessel bottom head welds,.shall be in accordance with ASME Section V, Article V."
ASME Section -V, T-431, " Instrument-Calibration", states l that -
l"The instrument shall be' evaluated for screen. height: linearity and amplitude control linearity at the-beginning of-each period of extended use or every three months."
Contrary'to the above, on'0ctober 7, 1980,-during.an examination of Reactor

Controls-Inc. (RCIF instrument calibration records, the' inspector noted-Jthat the Krautkramer USIP-11, S/N 21197-3457, used for ultrasonic examination
-of: control rod drive housing welds to the reactor vessel, was last calibrated on March.28,11980.
